Tyson Spicy Chicken Breast Sliders feature “spicy, breaded & portioned chicken breast filet with rib meat on an artisan bun.”
A 20.8-oz box of eight sliders costs $8.99 but I received this courtesy of Tyson.
The sliders are packaged with two per pouch, which makes for four servings in all.
The chicken seems to be whole-cut meat stuck together rather than a single-cut piece. It was moist inside and made for a meaty bite.
Each filet was lightly, breaded with a somewhat grainy texture, which was quite familiar to me as someone who grew up eating school lunches. There was a lightly seasoned flavor to the breading as well as substantial spicy heat.
I tried preparing the sliders in both the microwave and the air fryer to compare and there weren’t any surprises there. The air fryer made for a crispy breading, while the microwave made for a mostly soft breading. However, the bun turned out a bit too crispy/toasted in the air fryer, while it stayed soft but a little more chewy out of the microwave.
Generally, the bun was airy and spongy with a somewhat moist crust to it. It wasn’t all that different from your run-of-the-mill plain burger bun but seemed a bit thick for the chicken.
Taken altogether, Tyson’s Spicy Chicken Breast Sliders made for a good but not great chicken slider that offers quite a bit of heat to it. It turned out best in the air fryer but the buns might be better in the microwave (I also tried heating the bun on the pan but it was still cold inside even as the bun was well-browned). I recommend adding sauce as the sliders can feel dry otherwise (I went with mayo).
