A 5-oz package costs about $4 but I received this courtesy of Ferrera.
Sweetarts Gummies Fruity Splitz come in six flavors: Cherry, Apple, Orange, Blue Punch (you know, fruit punch that is blue so you can easily identify it against the other colors), Lemon, and Grape.
The top halves of the candies are solid colored, while the bottom halves are translucent. The texture is the same soft, chewiness for both halves though. They’re not terribly sticky so I didn’t end up trying to work them from my teeth.
The flavors are fairly strong and, like a lot of fruit-flavored candies, they don’t necessarily taste like the actual fruit but rather whatever flavor they came up with to represent the fruit.
Each candy do indeed have a sweet half and a tangy half but it’s a bit onerous to try and eat one half without getting some of the other half so you end up just getting a combination of both sweet and tangy.
In terms of tanginess, Sweetarts Fruity Splitz are tangier than regular gummies tend to be but not so much as sour candies–they didn’t make my mouth want to pucker.
Overall, Sweetarts Gummies Fruity Splitz make for an enjoyable take on Sweetarts candies in gummy form. The chewiness is satisfying and the flavors are good. I’m just a little disappointed that you can’t actually split the candies.
