McDonald’s Bacon Ranch McCrispy features a crispy-fried chicken filet served with applewood-smoked bacon, a new buttermilk ranch sauce, and crinkle-cut pickles on a toasted potato roll.
I bought one for $6.29.
Simply put, the Bacon Ranch McCrispy, is regular McCrispy with the addition of ranch and bacon.
The buttermilk ranch was pretty mild. It added some creaminess, a slight tang, moisture, and light herby touches. They spread it on both buns but it wasn’t doing a whole lot.
Similarly, the bacon didn’t stand out much with a decent hit of salt but less in the way of smokiness and only a light crispiness. My particular bacon arrived in a good number of little broken pieces. Maybe it was a bad batch as I’ve had better bacon from McDonald’s before.
The pickles, on the other hand, made a good accounting for themselves with a nice, watery crunch. A bit of sweetness might have worked well here though.
The chicken filet was crunchy and decently thick but was a bit small in width (it didn’t quite cover the bun) and a little dry inside on this occasion. It was lightly seasoned but still served as the main flavor driver of the sandwich.
The bun was squishy with a bit of richness. There was not much spring to it but it was sturdy enough.
Overall, McDonald’s Bacon Ranch McCrispy disappointed a bit on the bacon and ranch front but the core sandwich (the McCrispy portion) was solid. I’d rather save the money and just get the regular McCrispy.
