Chipotle adds the new Fajita Quesadilla as an online-only menu item that can only be ordered through the Chipotle app or website.
The new menu item basically just lets you now add fajita vegetables to the chain’s online-only Quesadilla. which is also made with Monterey Jack cheese and a protein of your choice. Like the regular Quesadilla, the Fajita Quesadilla comes with a choice of three sides (which now also includes Chipotle-Honey Vinaigrette as an available choice).
According to Chipotle, the Fajita Quesadilla comes about because of a viral TikTok trend popularized by creators Keith Lee and Alexis Frost, where they each shared and rated their custom Quesadilla orders (which included the addition of fajita vegetables). To honor their contributions to bringing the Fajita Quesadilla to the menu, Chipotle has added the “”Keithadilla” and “Fajita Quesadilla Hack” as ordering options on the Chipotle website and app for a limited time.
Custom/secret menu orders tend to be a “your-mileage-may-vary”-type of deal as it really depends on the chain, the location, and the person you ask. While Chipotle only recently added a quesadilla (along with new equipment to make them) as an official menu item, customers could sometimes get it it as a custom order for some time.
While the trend picked up steam at the tail-end of 2022, it took Chipotle some time to add it to the official menu as they had to “execute tech updates for approximately 3,200 restaurant locations and conduct training for more than 100,000 employees.”
